International Lawyer

International lawyers have many different jobs duties. All the issues that an international lawyer work with will, on some in some way, an international issue or disagreement. For the most part, international lawyers specialize in one aspect of international law. There are three general areas of international law that works with various cases. The World Trade Organization was formed specifically to regulate any international trade. International lawyers may be required to work with the World Trade Organization frequently.

• Another common role of the international lawyer is to concentrate on specializing in taxes. Any individual or business can work with an international lawyer who specializes in taxes to advise them on how to essentially manage foreign income or accounts. It’s important for an international lawyer to know the basic rules of various countries tax laws and counsel their clients properly. International lawyers who work with taxes also help individuals and business get international tax breaks. These international lawyers also must know how to manage their clients’ money once it is in the foreign country.

• Although not as common as the above specialties, some international lawyers work with individuals who have been charged with war crimes. International lawyers may be in charge of the prosecution or the defense. Many cases involving infamous war criminals such as Saddam Hussein was prosecuted and defended by international lawyers.

Since there are no real specifics when it comes to international law, it is hard to collect exact data on international laws. This is due to all the possible specializations involved. However, it has been established that most international lawyers work for international law firms in large cities. The number of lawyers who work for these firms seem to grow substantially yearly.
